Louisville picked up a commitment from Akoy Agau, a 6-foot-9 forward out of Omaha Central (Neb.) High School.
Agau had an in-home visit with Rick Pitino on Wednesday night.
“I just had that feeling,” Agau said. “I didn’t think I’d make a decision, but I knew it’s the school I was going to. So why not make that decision? It’s the right decision.”
Agau returned from an official visit to Louisville on Sunday.
“I checked out everything and I liked the facilities, loved the coaching staff, loved hanging out with the team and with the fans,” said the two-time All-Nebraska selection. “When I was on campus, I had the feeling it was the place for me.”
Chris Jones, a 5-foot-11 sophomore for Northwest Florida State College, committed to Louisville on Monday.
Jones will have two years of eligibility remaining after he transfers next year.
Chris Jones completed his weekend visit to Louisville and may announce his decision on Monday.
“I’m going to make my commitment (to someone) tomorrow most likely,” Jones said during a phone interview on Sunday.
The 5-foot-11 sophomore point guard from Northwest Florida State College is believed to be Rick Pitino’s top target.
“He feels more comfortable putting the ball in my hand than a high school point guard, and that’s why he’s not recruiting any more high school point guards,” Jones said. “I’m their top priority, and that’s the reason why.”
Marcus Lee has trimmed his list of finalists to three schools: California, Kentucky and Louisville.
Lee eliminated Duke and Indiana from consideration.
The 6-foot-9 forward has offers from Cal and Louisville and is expected to visit Kentucky in mid-October.
Akoy Agau, a 6-foot-8, 235-pound forward out of Omaha Central (Neb.) High School will travel to Louisville this weekend for an official recruiting visit.
“(Louisville) is definitely one of my top schools,” Agau said. “They made my cut, and I wanted to set up an official to check it out. … I had a really good connection with (Richardson). … I definitely like the University of Louisville. … They’ve got a really good coach in coach (Rick) Pitino, and he’s done a really great job of producing pros, which I want to hopefully be one day.
“They’ve definitely been successful, and they made the Final Four this year. Those are all things that are definitely really positive. I’m obviously going to go check it out, see the people and the atmosphere and get a feel for it this weekend.”
Agau is also considering trips to Georgetown, Baylor, Memphis, Mississippi State and West Virginia.
